The Get Up Kids
The Get Up Kids are an influential American rock band from Kansas City, Missouri, formed in 1995. They are often credited as pioneers of the emo genre, particularly the second wave of emo in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The band’s lineup includes Matt Pryor (vocals and guitar), Jim Suptic (guitar and vocals), Rob Pope (bass), Ryan Pope (drums), and James Dewees (keyboards).
The Get Up Kids gained a loyal following with their heartfelt lyrics, melodic sound, and energetic live performances. Their 1999 album Something to Write Home About is particularly notable and is considered a seminal album in the emo and indie rock scenes. Over the years, the band has influenced a generation of musicians and remains a significant name in the genre, continuing to tour and release new music.
